Representation Matters.
Representation Matters.
Together we can improve healthcare for minorities.
There are many health conditions that disproportionately affect minorities. Statistics provided by the CDC show that Black Americans are 2x more likely to develop diabetes, 3x more likely to die of asthma, and are 2x more likely to contract lung cancer compared to their Caucasian counterparts.
However, fewer than 10% of patients enrolled in clinical trials are minorities (source: https://www.nih.gov/). Black Americans, in particular, have been underrepresented in clinical trials, causing researchers to rethink the dosages of medications used to treat our most prevalent and fatal diseases.
At Accellacare, we are committed to increasing the accuracy of our research data, ensuring Black Americans are accurately represented in all of our clinical trials. Bridging this gap, will allow us to develop safer and more effective medication, as well as provide better, and more accessible care, to minority populations.
